ITS Logistics Expands technology investments, opens SF Bay Area Innovation Center - Supply Chain Tribe by Celerity

One of the fastest-growing logistics firms in the US, ITS Logistics, has announced the inauguration of its Tech Innovation Center, which is situated in the center of the technologically advanced San Francisco Bay Area in Walnut Creek, California. With a revenue growth of over 300% since 2020, ITS offers a comprehensive range of technology-driven supply chain solutions, encompassing network transportation, omnichannel distribution and fulfillment, drayage and intermodal, container management, and network optimization.

ITS Logistics is still committed to fusing cutting-edge technological advancement with top-notch company processes and a degree of data quality that clients can rely on.

According to ITS Logistics CEO Scott Pruneau, "opening our Technology Innovation Center in the Bay Area is an integral part of a nine-figure investment in our modern 3PL business model." "Our team will be able to unlock genuine, tangible value for our customers with the help of this new center, which is designed to take advantage of innovative and emerging technologies."

This Silicon Valley hub, which also happens to be the company's first public-facing container management and visibility platform, ContainerAI, is at the center of the company's ongoing investments in growth and innovation. These investments include physical locations and assets, proprietary cloud technologies, and industry-leading talent acquisition.

"The ITS Cloud powers all aspect of our business, including operations, customer support, and carrier partnerships. "We have almost no technology debt, no data centers, and no legacy applications," ITS Logistics CIO and SVP of Supply Chain Services Peter Weis stated.

This means that a larger portion of our technology budget goes into innovation and much less goes toward just keeping the lights on. This enables us to expand our offshore development center in India, grow our tech workforce in Reno, and invest in the essential innovation capabilities that Silicon Valley is known for.

As ITS speeds up the delivery of software solutions targeted at the market, the Walnut Creek Technology Innovation Center will work closely with both Reno and India. The center was designed with scalability in mind.

Haris Hamid, vice president of product and innovation at ITS Logistics, stated, "We've already staffed the Center with key talent in architecture, information security, business intelligence, devops, and cloud ERP." "We're making what we think is a wise investment in leveraging the nation's largest pool of tech talent, both generally and specifically for next-generation artificial intelligence."

The Bay Area and Walnut Creek were selected by the corporation as the site of its Tech Innovation Center due to the significant concentration of talent focused on artificial intelligence in these areas. San Francisco-based companies received nearly $11.1 billion in venture capital investments in Q1 2023 alone, according to the venture capital database Pitchbook. This has made the region a center for AI-focused research and development.

In addition to investing in some of the best AI and machine learning talent on the planet, we also gain by being close to our Reno headquarters, which means that we can quickly collaborate in person when necessary, said Hamid. "That close proximity results in an economical speed to market."

The growth narrative of ITS Logistics revolves around technology. By investing in people, software, and cloud infrastructure, the company has more than doubled its digital engagement with customers and carriers in the past year.

ITS's cloud-based Transportation Management System (TMS), which was created specifically to handle all of its brokerage shipments and allow the business to "go on offense" by delivering new tech items more quickly, is the cornerstone of the company's technological investments.

"Our reliance on outside suppliers to drive innovation has significantly decreased. We are only constrained by our creativity and dedication in what we can accomplish for our clients," stated Weis. "Though it won't be the last, ContainerAI is a significant initial product disclosure to the market. The innovation roadmap that lies ahead excites me much, and the Walnut Creek Center will be essential to realizing the potential of that vision.
