Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced that the state of Maharashtra is set to have 5-6 logistics parks to boost the country's logistics sector. The parks will be built in Nagpur, Nashik, Pune, and Mumbai.

The minister made the announcement during a virtual conference on the 'Infrastructure for Inclusive Growth' organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). He added that the government is also planning to develop a multimodal logistics park in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

These logistics parks will help reduce logistics costs and improve supply chain efficiency, said Gadkari. They will also create employment opportunities and boost economic growth in the region.

The minister further emphasized the need to promote sustainable and environment-friendly transportation. He said that the government is exploring the use of electric vehicles for last-mile connectivity and is also promoting the use of biofuels.

In addition to this, the government is also planning to develop waterways as a mode of transportation to reduce logistics costs and congestion on the roads. Gadkari said that the government is working on a plan to connect the rivers in the country to make them navigable.

The minister urged the private sector to invest in the development of infrastructure projects in the country. He assured them that the government will provide all necessary support to ensure the success of these projects.
