Doha: According to a statement released by the businesses on Wednesday, FedEx Logistics and the Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZ) have signed an agreement to construct a regional logistics center within the nation's free zones. This key facility will have a new logistics office and be situated in the Ras Bufontas Free Zone, close to Qatar Airways and Hamad International Airport.

The expansion of FedEx Logistics will be supported by the new facility's smooth integration into the FedEx global network. According to the firm, it will act as a major entry point for freight traveling internationally between Asia and Europe.

It will facilitate business expansion in the area, speed up freight access and air travel, shorten the time it takes for customs clearance, and offer convenience.

In a ceremony organized in conjunction with their participation in the Qatar Economic Forum, Patrick Moebel, the president and CEO of FedEx Logistics, and Sheikh Mohammed H. F. Al-Thani, the CEO of the Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZ), signed the Memorandum of Understanding.

"QFZ and FedEx Logistics' partnership will help accelerate the flow of goods and strengthen supply chains, benefiting economies on a global scale," Al-Thani declared. He went on, "Investment in QFZ by FedEx Logistics demonstrates a shared dedication to expansion and innovation in the logistics industry. The partnership makes use of FedEx's extensive worldwide network and elite experience, and it will surely help promote Qatar as a top business destination.

Qatar's freight and logistics business has been expanding significantly. The country is situated at the intersection of three continents, in the heart of the Gulf, and has access to 60% of the world's population in eight hours by air and five days by sea.

FedEx Logistics President and CEO Patrick Moebel stated, "The regional facility in QFZ will enable us to better serve our customers not just in the region between Asia and Europe, but also around the world."

"With the establishment of the FedEx Logistics regional facility in Qatar's Free Zones, we are not only enhancing our global network but also reaffirming our commitment to Qatar's burgeoning role in cross-border trade and supporting the growth of the state's national economy," stated Kami Viswanathan, President of FedEx Express Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and Africa
