Over 270 young people in Cambodia have benefited from DHL Group's GoTeach program since 2019.
The top shipping company in the world, DHL, is commemorating the five years of its GoTeach program collaboration with Teach For Cambodia. Over 270 young people in Cambodia have benefited from DHL's employability skills improvement, mentoring, and educational programs since 2019.
GoTeach is a component of GoGreen, GoHelp, and GoTrade in the DHL Group's corporate citizenship initiative. GoTeach seeks to increase young people's employability, particularly for those from socioeconomically challenged circumstances resulting from social upheaval, poverty, and/or family loss.
DHL collaborates with Teach for Cambodia, a member of the worldwide Teach For All network, in Cambodia. Both organizations aspire for every child to have access to high-quality education, chances for growth, and support.
By working together, we have successfully created a multistakeholder career education program. Our delivery quality is a result of the dedication and common goal of Teach For Cambodia staff and DHL volunteers, who have set an example of cooperation, communication, and agency for students to follow. The distinctive feature of this program is its emphasis on giving students the chance to acquire necessary skills and prepare them for the workforce, which forms the cornerstone of a successful career education framework, according to Teach For Cambodia CEO Siv Monirath.
With the goal of empowering young people in Cambodia and giving them the tools they need to succeed in the workforce, DHL launched the GoTeach program. Over 5,000 hours of volunteer work have been contributed to the program by our enthusiastic staff in the last five years. "GoTeach offers our employees a special chance to engage with the community and make a significant difference," stated Christoph Beier, Managing Director of DHL Global Forwarding Myanmar and Cambodia.
As to the findings of PWC's analysis on upskilling in Southeast Asia, notable productivity increases can be achieved by smart investments made by both public and private sectors. According to the estimate, significant upskilling investments may boost the GDP of the area by 4%, or US$250 billion, by 2030, producing up to 676,000 additional jobs.
Our society and economy depend on a robust educational system and targeted programs to develop the next generation of highly qualified workers. The GoTeach program from DHL provides a talent pool for our organization and a platform to increase employability. As a matter of fact, we have recently welcomed two GoTeach alumni to our team," DHL Express Cambodia Country Manager Prayag Chitrakar stated.
Two former students of GoTeach, Sream Sengheang and Seoun Leakphisa, are now successful employees of DHL Express Cambodia. Seoun Leakphisa is a Customer Service Advisor, and Sream Sengheang is a Clearance Support Agent after completing their internships and taking part in the Youth Camp.
With the help of 33 staff volunteers, DHL Cambodia has arranged 16 GoTeach events since 2019 to promote the employability and career advancement of young people by providing information, guidance, and support. Skill development, facility tours, internships, and exciting youth camp activities are all part of the GoTeach projects. Ten Teach For Cambodia students have participated in internship programs offered by DHL Cambodia thus far. 52 youth have received computer skills training from the team using the 10 PCs that DHL gave.
These assist the efforts to enhance their educational experiences and contribute holistically to the growth and empowerment of Cambodia's youth.
Under the GoTeach program, volunteers from around the DHL Group have so far given their time and effort to work with young people in 70 countries. As one of just three DAX-40 firms to do so, the DHL Group was awarded the highest classification of "integrated" for corporate citizenship participation in March 2024.
