Delay in Jet Engine Supply Chain causes Disruptions

Due to a delay in the jet engine supply chain, over 50 Indigo and GoFirst aircraft were grounded.

According to a Pratt and Whitney (P&W) representative, IndiGo and GoFirst were compelled to halt about 50 aircraft in the nation as a result of the supply chain disruption caused by P&W engines.

"Global supply issues are limiting the supply of structural castings and other parts, which is a problem for us. Although continuing with hardware and software changes to increase engine duration on the wing, we are making progress on our mitigation tactics with our supplier base and growing MRO network capacity. In order to reduce operational disturbance, we are working closely with customers at the same time. The output of both production and MRO engines will be supported by the anticipated relief of supply chain pressures later this year, according to a P&W representative.

The engines' dispatch dependability rate is comparable to that of more experienced engines, such as our V2500 for the A320ceo series. Engine time on the wing, particularly in some challenging operating circumstances, and the availability of hardware to upgrade and replace engines put pressure on engine availability. Like many in the sector," claims a statement from P&W.

The majority of aircraft engines that will be changed in the next few days belong to India's low-cost carrier Indigo, which presently has roughly 30 of its fleet waiting for an engine replacement.

The aviation sector continues to experience substantial supply chain disruptions on a global scale.
